There are days when Europe feels great. And then there are days when you just want:
- Songs and dance
- Dramatic background music
- A theatre full of people who get the jokes
If you’ve been craving that familiar Bollywood feeling, you’re not alone. The good news? You don’t have to fly back to India for it.
Here are the movie halls across the Netherlands where Bollywood films regularly show up — sometimes quietly, sometimes with full house energy.
1. Pathé Cinemas
Where: Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht, Eindhoven, The Hague
Pathe is the go-to for varied cinema, with 30 locations across the country you will always find at least one that is currently listing an Indian movie. Pathé Spuimarkt at Den Haag is also currently (Jan 2026) showing Sholay: The Final Cut, the movie you must have definitely seen before but now with remastered Dolby 5.1 sound and 4k video. Time to see Gabbar again.
2. Kinepolis Cinemas
Where: Almere, Utrecht, Leidschendam, Haarlem, Hoofddorp, Zoetermeer
In past few years, Kinepolis has started adding a variety of new and nostalgic hindi movies. They have good venues esp. for weekend plans when you don’t want to experiment. Many foreign movies are shown on smaller screens and you can expect a cozy environment with very good sound around the middle of the room.
3. Slieker Film
Where: Leeuwarden
Slieker film (Filmhuis) focuses primarily on art films rather than mainstream blockbusters. With three screens with capacity of 80 and 40 people, it is easy to get lost in the ambiance in a cozy setup.
3. Vue
Where: Eindhoven
Vue operates 20 locations across the country with Eindhoven being at the top of the list among Indian viewers, probably due to the local demographics. You might often find not only the latest Bollywood releases but also latest Tamil or Telugu cinema with the original audio.
AlmostLocal tip:
– Search the movie name directly on their websites. Bollywood films don’t always show up on the homepage.
– Many cinema halls often add the shows closer to the release dates and run the shows on very few selected time slots. However it is relatively easy to find Hindi shows on the weekends.
What Watching Bollywood Here Feels Like
- The audience is quieter
- The interval is shorter (or missing)
- You miss samosas and chai breaks
But the moment the music swells and Hindi fills the hall — something clicks.
