AlmostLocal is for Indians living in Europe, who feel they have become almost a local – but still figuring things out on the inside.
You have learned how the things work. You know the system, the procedures, maybe, even the language. You call the city you live in your home, but you still feel that you are “almost” local. This is where we exist.
lmostLocal is a digital magazine and community that helps Indians in Europe stay up to date with what’s changing around them — and what it actually means for their lives.. From visas, jobs, and money, to friendships, identity, culture, and belonging. We publish practical guides when things are confusing, and honest stories when things are harder to explain.
AlmostLocal is built by people who live this life themselves, and shaped by a community that shares what it learns along the way. The stories you will find here come directly from the reders – sometimes with names, sometimes anonymously – because not everything needs to be polished to be true.
If you are new here, you will find help.
If you have been here for a while, you will find recognition.
And if you are somewhere in between, you will probably find both.
We are not here to tell you how to live abroad the right way. We are here to help you feel a little more oriented – and a little less alone – as you figure it out.

Founding Editor
Aditya leads the research and publishing activities. He is an experienced applied researcher with background in Computer Science, Human Computer Interaction and User Research. He also teachest at a Dutch university
Program Leader
Neha manages the community programs and editorial outreach for AlmostLocal. She is also leading AI transformation initiatives at a Dutch multinational consumer electronics company.
Writer
Pallavi is a Computer Science student at TU Delft. At AlmostLocal, she analyzes the current affairs in the Netherlands and Germany to find how it impacts the Indian community and writes How-to Guides for general procedures.
Writer
Akshit manages the web server for AlmostLocal and makes sure that technical side of the website is always up-to-date. He is a Frontend Engineer from Antwerp and loves to go for hiking. He wants to learn Surfing and will start in the summer of 2026.
